Good news...
I went to see my cardiologist this morning and had a rather big surprise! My ejection fraction was at 50%!!!
When I had my heart attack they did the surgery and it went down as low as 32%. Over the past 4-years it has slowly gotten better. At one time they told me that I may never see 40%, then I got up to 46%, and now 50%. It continues to move in the right direction, which means that my heart is getting more and more healthy over an extended period of time!
The ejection fraction is basically the amount of blood pumped from your heart -- it's more complicated than that, but why get technical!?! A normal healthy person has an EF that is 55% or higher, and today I reached the level of “low normal” (50-54%)!!! Just for the record, the perfect EF is 58%, but less than 1/3 of Americans have an EF of 58%
I'm just excited that it is going up!!! Who knows, in a couple years I may even see 55%!!!
Thanks for all the prayers over the years!!! I don’t have another explanation as to why this is happening. I have a great doctor, but he was even surprised to see it at 50%!
as a 3 time heart patient, sometimes its tough to get good news. CONGRADS!! carl
Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! We'll keep the prayers coming and see if we can't push you right to the top, okay?
It looks like you'll still have plenty of years of good trips with the family ahead of you yet! Whatever you're doing, keep it up!!!
