Cbeach1 12/27/07 13:55

hola Galindy. i just opened up the site using Firefox. other than the font looking a little weird to me (mostly the contrast), everything seems fine. Firefox did update prior to opening. i don't know if you need to do that or not. i'm puzzled. maybe someone who uses Firefox on a regular basis can help. tim

Craig in WI 12/27/07 14:45

Huh????? I've never had any trouble at all when using Firefox. Better not, since that's all I use.

You might have to set it to accept cookies, though. That's all I can think of.

Still works w/ Netscape
AkumalDave 12/28/07 07:15

I'm using Netscape 7.2 to view this forum as we "speak". Since its core is Mozilla - just as Firefox', I'm not sure why the site isn't working for Galindy.

Galindy, if you have your security settings locked down, you may need to enable cookies for this site (keeps track of last message read, which is a good thing). I still block pop-ups and banner ads (sorry, Tim ;) ) and it works fine. Any other clues you can provide may help us troubleshoot the issue.

Dave

you don't like my banner ads???!!
Cbeach1 12/28/07 07:19

pout! :D you shouldn't be running into any pop-ups. ??? tim
Nope
AkumalDave 12/28/07 08:29

: you shouldn't be running into any pop-ups. ???

Not on this site, no. I just mentioned the setting as it's usually tied in with Cookies and other Privacy-related stuff.

Hola!

Does anyone have an up to date contact telephone number for Gary or Teysha Phillips over at Casa Cenote? We were supposed to be staying there for new years 2007/2008 but Teysha just emailed us yesterday to cancel our reservation due to ´maintenance problems´. We are already in in Mexico, and my parents fly out from England to meet us tomorrow, so we have less than 24 hours to find another reservation - and they haven´t even refunded our money yet (we paid in full via PayPal over a month ago - more than $2400 USD) so we are pretty screwed.

Does anyone out there have an up-to-date telephone number for them? The one listed on their website (011521-998-874-5170 ) isn´t working. I´ve tried dialing it every way - 044 998 874 5170 is the correct way I think but I get an announcement that the number is not in use. I need to get our payment back from them ASAP so we can pay for a reservation somewhere else.

Thanks in advance for any help....

they have a typo in their phone number
Cbeach1 12/28/07 17:33

one to many 1's. so, 011-52-998-874-5170 from another country. hmmm, 998 is area code for Cancun, not Akumal. i think that is 984. 044 would be just for a cell. hope this helps! tim

Thanks Tim. Yes - looks like it was a 984 area code that was needed.

I appreciate your help.

When I try to open a message, I get:

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at vacation.

* Check the address for typing errors such as

ww.example.com instead of

www.example.com

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network

connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure

that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Check the site you're entering:
Craig in WI 1/2/08 12:49

": Firefox can't find the server at vacation. "

If it's not showing the full address:
http://www.cancunandrivieramaya.com/vacation/cancun.cgi
Make sure that's where you're trying to go.

If that's the address you're trying to hit, could be a firewall issue or something. If you can hit the page with Internet Explorer, it should also be working in Firefox. (That's not always the case, but it is for this site.)

Hope you were able to sort it out...
Craig in WI 1/2/08 12:54

Casa Cenote was one of the few places on Tankah Bay that was damaged extensively from the surge from Dean. Since the place had been wiped out twice two summer/falls ago, Gary couldn't get insurance. He's slowly getting things put back together, but he's starting with the restaurant, not the casitas. I'm surprised you didn't have a lot more advance warning...he just got the restaurant back open around the 9th of December.

Galindy 1/2/08 20:39

I can get to the homepage of the site just fine. It is when I try to open a message that I get the error. This did not happen before you made the changes recently. I have used Firefox for about 2-3 years now and viewed your site 1000's of times in that period. If I use IE, it works just fine.

Help??

Galindy in Wisconsin too....

okay, Craig and i are trying to figure this out. did you reply by manually putting in the url in your browser address line? or how did you reply?? tim
okay, from Firefox
Cbeach1 1/2/08 21:17

when i scroll over your message, i see the full url down at the bottom. when i click on it, it says transferring data and zoom zoom it goes to the message. so i just don't get it. tim
Enable Javascript for this site
AkumalDave 1/3/08 07:18

: If I use IE, it works just fine.

That's 'cause IE is much less secure, by default, than the Mozilla-based browsers (or Opera, for that matter).

The "cancun.cgi" part of the link runs a routine that Firefox is apparently blocking for you. Try to enable Javascript for this site only. I don't have the latest version of Firefox running on this machine but, in Netscape, it's in the "Edit | Preferences | Advanced" area. The version I run doesn't allow individual site settings - yours might.

All I have currently is "www.cancunandrivieramaya.com" added to my Allowed-to-set-Cookies website list. If time permits, I'll try it from a machine with Firefox this evening.

In the Tools Menu on the top of Firefox you can get to cookies...see pic.
gracias guys!

Firstly thanks for the help. I replied by using IE.

I have checked and I have JavaScript enabled and "accept" cookies from all sites.???
