PLAYA HOTELS & RESORTS said it closed on its previously announced purchase of five resorts, which are operated and branded by AMResorts and are located in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The properties in Mexico are: Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun, Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa, Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa and Sunscape Puerto Aventuras Riviera Maya. As part of the arrangement with AMResorts, Playa plans to spend more than $25 million during the next 12 months to upgrade the five properties, which will retain their AMResorts branding and management.

JETBLUE announced it will serve a 17th destination from Orlando when it launches daily nonstop service to Cancun on March 13. As a result, JetBlue said it will be the only low-cost carrier to offer daily, nonstop service between Orlando and Cancun. Fares will start at $49 each way. Flights from Orlando will depart daily at 8 a.m. and arrive in Cancun at 8:15 a.m. Return flights will depart Cancun at 9 a.m. and arrive in Orlando at 1:10 p.m. Flights will be operated a new Embraer 190 jet with room for 100 passengers.
