Can't provide any first-hand feedback, but Catalonia Riviera Maya used to be called Copacabana and it's located on a great beach on Xpu-Ha bay (south of Puerto Aventuras, north of Akumal). If you search for info on Copacabana, it might produce more results. Of course, the new ownership/management may have changed some things.
