we found out that the problem with our tree was the size of it's stand. the tree was TOO LARGE for the stand we had put on it but fortunately, we had a larger one in the back we used. and NOW--it aint going nowhere until we take it down!
going out later to pick up a few more ornaments, though. hope the stores aren't PACKED PACKED. ya know?
ciao for now.
Yesterday was the last day of school for students in most parts of the country. Christmas ornaments are a favorite gift of students to give to teachers. I wonder if that means they will all go on sale today???!!!
My tree is covered with ornaments that were gifts from my students over the past 25-years. I hope my tree never falls because I could never replace the ones students have given me. Last year we broke a box of ornaments that we had bought for ourselves that said things like" "Our first Christmas together", "Baby's First Christmas", and "Our 10th Christmas together". Many tears were shed when that box hit the floor. Those memories are totally priceless.
Can you tell I'm a sucker for this time of the year?!?! I love Christmas, Mardi Gras and Easter. It's a shame they all come so close together, but it does make this a great time of the year.
i completely understand what you are saying about your students presenting you with ornaments as gifts. also about the other types of ornaments you have. sorry about the ones you lost. i know how precious they can be.
however, the ones i am talking about were a BIT different than the ones you've dexcribed. i'm talking about the ones i bought in ROME, LONDON and CANCUN. i think there's even one or two i lost from PARIS. so you see--i may never be able to replace the european ones. i do believe ONE DAY i'll be able to replace CANCUN's. but until then--i'm "S.O.L."!
so, (since i have no children) those were VERY important to me. i don't mean to sound greedy or anything but i think i am. sorry.
tell me about that photo of the manger scene. was that some of your students in a play or something?
good, I'm glad you got that taken care of...sorry about the ornaments
We got too big of a tree this year,,,I don't know what we were thinking! But when other people at the Christmas tree farm stopped and stared as we drove by with this "thing" on top of our van...I knew we made a mistake
We try to always let the kids pick it out, and they usually go for more of the "Charlie Brown" type
Perry had to cut so much of it off to get it to fit!
I had alot of left over branches to decorate with though
