HI Greg. I know you are a fan of Villas Rolandi on Isla Mujeres. It sounds like such a wonderful place. My question is do you happen to know if you can exchange the two meals a day for a better room rate? I've just heard about all the great restaurants on Isla and would hate to be confined to one place. Even though I know their food is fabulous. Also, how is the beach at Rolandi's? Thanks.
The answer is yes--you can arrange for just a room rate that is easy--just inquire-it can save you a few bucks--but I would think you would want breakfast there as its a long way to town..The beach is beautiful, small and private--and you can walk down the coast to other coves--it has seagrass off shore--some folks dont like that--but its no problem as it gets deep fast and its beautifully natural.I like to snorkel out there as well. You must eat dinner there at least lonce tho--dont you think? Outstanding seafood and other entrees!

it's QUITE a distance from ROLANDI's to town. sure, you can get ther MUCH quicker in a taxi than if you ride in your own golfcart. but still--
as far as the restaurant there--on the property, i have NEVER had such FANTASTIC meals on that island--anywhere. (except for the ROLANDI's in town) so i have to also beat the band and say that you HAVE TO have AT LEAST one meal there! and make sure you have it just before sunset--then get a table out on the deck so that you can see the sunset as you are eating your meal. you will not be sorry. trust me!
being more of a pool person than a beacher, i can honestly say that the pool there is MAGNIFICENT! so you can easily go from the beach to the pool. you'll think you've discovered a little slice of heaven.
when are you going?
My photography skills don't compare to Greg and John's, but here's a pic of Rolandi's beach to give you an idea.
I took this in April 2003...
We had lunch at Rolandi's, and it was wonderful!

That's a beautiful pic Janie. Did you stay there or do just a lunch? If you didn't stay there, where did you stay? Thanks.
Thank you Greg and John for the response. I know Rolandi's is a lovely place with wonderful food. But I'm very confused about exactly what I want when we go to I.M. In some ways I'd like to stay closer to town. But on the other hand, the seclusion of Rolandi's and the luxury is also very, very appealing. And I've read so much about all the wonderful food on Isla. I know Rolandi's is very gourmet, but I'd also like to experience the more authentic, native kinds of food. I just don't know what to do! Thanks to you for the response. Oh, and John, I'm not sure yet when we're going. Probably the last week of March. Thanks!!
