And am I thrilled! No travel plans, but I've finished my Christmas shopping and am looking forward to sleeping late every morning!
My boss's last day was Friday--he's on vacation and his official retirement day is December 31st. The good news is that because he is so good in Compensation, the company talked him into coming back part-time as a consultant. He'll work three days a week and it will be much less stress. Good for him--not only will he be collecting retirement, but will also be receiving a salary for consulting.
As for myself, I might be out of a job come the new year as the program I manage is either going to be eliminated or reduced so much that I'll have nothing to do. My boss and my new boss told me there was plenty of other work to do in comp, but I told them I don't want to be a 'catch-all' for everyone else in the department. I'm used to managing my own program and working independently. However, there are lots of other things in HR that I could look into so we shall see!!! I've been doing this job for exactly five years now and a change might be a good thing.
Until then, I'm just going to relax, enjoy the time off, and think about browsing our job posting site when I return!!!
Happy holidays to anyone else who is starting vacation now.
