The Gym
The gym was open from 7 AM until 7 PM daily. All of the equipment in the gym looked and appeared to be new. They had one treadmill, 3 or 4 stationary bikes, 3 stair steppers, and other equipment. There was a 7 or 8 stage universal gym set made by Cybex, and hand bar bells of all sizes and weights. There were no free weights. There were matts and stepping box pieces.
The gym also had a ladies and men restroom with showers, lockers, Sauna, and steam room. The were towels available for gym use and a frig. with warm bottled water. The gym seldom had more than 3 or 4 people inside at any one time.
Store
There is a store just off the main lobby which sells all kinds of Mexican items (clothing, jewelry, nic-nacks, post cards, magazines, books, candy, snacks, and much more). The carry film, some batteries, suntan lotion, and a wide variety of medical supplies (some which require a doctors prescription in the US).
Bank
The on site exchange bank is just to the left of the check in desk. The Peso to the dollar was 9.4 Peso's for one dollar US the week we were there. The resort bank gave 9.0 to the dollar. They do not give change in US dollars so it is advisable to carry some ones and fives with you. The store may give change in US dollars in the evenings, but before noon, it's usually Peso's.
Bars and Drinks
There seemed to be no end to the number of bars on the resort, just when you think you have visited them all, there is another one you missed. You should never be far from a cold drink. One web site I visited said they did not have bourbon at the resort, they do now. I made a list of some of the brands I saw to help out those who need to plan their drinks. Beside cold bottled water at all of the bars, they have Pepsi, diet Pepsi, 7 Up, and mixes galore. Not being a heavy drinker I may get some of these wrong, but here goes (Scotch- Canadian Mist, William Lawser, J& B, and Mc Harrison), (Bourbon - Evan Williams), (Brandy - President, & Bacardi Anego Superior), (Tequila - too many to name), (Vodka - Smirnoff, & Yuvrudka) , Gin and many special liquors. Beer - Corona and a dark beer. The frig in your room will have can Dos Equis XX. Sorry about the spelling of some of the brands, not a big drinker. Of course the bartender will make you almost anything you can describe. There is a book at the bars listing some of the favorite drinks, Pina Colada, Strawberry Daiquiri, Miami Vise (half & half-Colada & Daiquiri), Bahama Mama, Mud Slide and many more. If you need your drink stronger, just ask and they will make it that way or ask for a shot on the side and mix to taste.
Check Out
Check out is noon or earlier. Just go down to the front desk and turn in your wrist bands, towel cards, room keys (cards) and safe lock if you have one. It only takes a minute of two, if you are going to be on the resort after check out they will give you a pass so you can eat and drink until you leave. We had been to all the restaurant and had met most of the staff at one time, and no one ask us for the pass. We let the bell boy know who was supposed to pick us up (Lomas in our case), about 30 minutes before departure time and they called us from the lobby bar when they arrived.
Trip Back to the Airport
The trip back, was much the same as we came. We were in a 9 passenger van with couples from other area resorts. It took only 50 minutes or so and we were at the airport parking lot where we caught the van the first time. The Lomas agent showed us which line to get into for the return trip, it seemed all 300 people were there already. We were in line only about 20 minutes, the check in staff were quick and friendly. We said hello, and good morning in Spanish and were put into the front of the airplane, see a little Spanish goes a long way. Off to upstairs to the departure lounge, but first thru security and the detectors. The departure area is divided into two sections. The only difference is the departure gate numbers, both have the same duty free shops and restaurant.
The Sun Country airplane was there and departed on time from Mexico, we actually arrived 20 minutes early in Houston. This is not necessarily a good thing I told my wife. If the international arrival area is full from other incoming flights we will not get to the gate any earlier, and we waited on the runway apron until our planned arrival time to get to the gate. Customs was fast and easy, the dogs had pre screened "sniffed" everyone's luggage for contraband. We breezed through customs and met the van to the parking lot and we are on our way home.
I hope this report will help you have as wonderful vacation as my wife and I had.
