My husband, sister in law and I arrived at Bravo Club El Mandarin February 13, 2001. The grounds are lovely but the beach is not very good. The rooms were clean and the decor is very bright and cheery. This is an Italian resort and only 3 workers spoke English. It was very difficult for anyone else staying there. As soon as you get off the bus the Italians are given blue bands and other languages red or yellow bands. This was a study in human dynamics! The "blue bands were served first and included in events. On the last two days of our trip one of the "animation team" spoke English so then we were included in events. The first four days no-one asked us to join - this was confirmed by most of the Canadians and Americans in the resort who experienced the same thing. We stayed at the Reef Club Playacar last year and had a wonderful time- the Mexican workers were friendly and helped us speak a little Spanish. We also met many people from different countries. At Bravo Club resort even the satellite TV lost only the English speaking channels so we were totally cut off. We did go on a trip to Tulum and Xel-ha which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was the only time we felt we were in Mexico. Next time we will make sure we go to a Mexican resort!
