I went with my son (then 5 years old) and my parents in January 2002. The beach was beautiful, the staff were friendly and wonderful. The food was good...The accomadations were rated a 3 1/2 star, but we just sleeped there. A little mustly smelling in the rooms. (Don't expect a 5 star) Most days we were on the beach, or touring around. We stayed for 7 days. We went to Playa del Carmen one day, Xel Ha another day, and Tulum Ruins. We took the collectivo buses to save money (they seem to come every 5 minutes), as they we cheaper and better suited than tours for us personally(we could stay as long as we liked and do our own thing). Tours say they included food and drink, but if you ask, the hotel will prepare a lunch for you if you are going on an excursion for the day. Bring lots of water, drink bottled water. None of us got sick. The temperature was nice, although next time I would go in March when it is hotter and the sky was slightly hazey. Would definatley go again.....
