1) It rained.
2) It rained some more.
3) It stopped for about 30-minutes and then rained some more.
We slept in until after 10:00 AM. Then we went to eat breakfast (GREAT!!!).
The lobby bar was home to all resort activities today. Like all resorts in this area, they have a plan for poor weather days. Bingo, karaoke, the play for fun casino, etc…
We played bingo and listened to some very bad people who tried to sing. We came up to the room and took a nap until dinnertime.
Dinner tonight was the Mexican buffet followed by the Mexican show. Dinner was good, and the show was wonderful. I really appreciate that the shows are in an air-conditioned theater, and that the sound is great and the worst seat in the house is actually very good. I have to give it up to the waiters. They must have written down what we were drinking and every time the glass was near empty there was another drink on the table!
The best thing today for me was the Mariachi band that played in the show. It was called Mariachi Blanco, and they were one of the best I have ever heard. One of the two trumpet players was a 12-year-old young man who didn’t miss a lick all night! Talk about a young professional! I spoke with him and his teacher after the show and he has only been playing for 2-years and he is easily as good as many pros that I’ve played with. He has an amazing future.
Early to bed tonight (about 11:30) and up for a presentation with a resort person tomorrow. She knows we are not interested in buying timeshare, but it is also on their records that we have visited Solaris Hotels seven times. I have “8-Nevers” when it comes to timeshare (I’ll list them for you at the end of this post) and I follow them seriously. That means they can tell me that they will give it to me for free and I would not take it.
The rain looks like it will slow down tomorrow, but it looks like a rainy week, so we’ll just have to live with it. At the very worst we have people to cook for us, clean for us, bring us drinks, and put on a show for us at night – how bad can that be even if it rains?
The 8 nevers of buying a timeshare...
1. Never buy timeshare on-site (Always buy resale.)
2. Never buy timeshare outside of the USA.
3. Never buy timeshare without consulting an attorney.
4. Never buy timeshare without consulting a timeshare owner’s organization.
5. Never buy timeshare for more than 33% of the original asking price.
6. Never buy timeshare without finding out the financial status of the ownership company.
7. Never buy timeshare before you review the laws of the state in which you are buying. The laws in your state make no difference -- it is the laws in the state where the timeshare is located that matters.
8. Never buy timeshare unless you can pay CASH. Timeshare is an ultimate luxury, and ultimate luxuries are those things you can afford to pay cash for, and paying cash will not adversely affect your current or future financial situation.
